I was kinda nervous and worried to teach the kids there... At age 7 and 8, they were way over my imagination. Intelligent, creative, obedient, reponsible are the words I would use to describe them... Hmm... Perhaps I should say colourful too... What a life, what a school life!
My primary school years... How would I describe them? Rigid learning, listen to teacher all the time, lots of caning and punishment which includes embarassing ourselves in front of others, table arrangements that only faces the teachers, homework homework and more homework, paper work, practising writng, reading, memorizing, timetables.....
Of course, there are also some others, the positive ones, the ones I liked about school... Getting to be at the top of the class, lots of friends, looking forward to recess when school starts, looking forward to school finishes after recess =P, play in the playground, being seniors, getting free dental check-up and treatment... Yeah, that's my school life.. My 'interesting' primary school years...
Silverstream, the school I went to for my school observation, offers something .... Nah, it's nothing.. They just have a bit more time for fun, a bit more care and love from teacher, a little different in terms of rewards and punishments, a little bit more use of praises in class, a little bit more high-tech than us, a little bit more choices for the children in everything, a little bit more interactive, a little bit more teaching aids for teachers, a little bit more activities for all the students, a little bit more materials for everyone, a little bit more fun, and a little bit more attention for them... Yeah, nothing too fancy but just that a little bit MORE than everything we have in our schools... =P
Let's have a look at the 'A LITTLE BIT MORE' things that I mentioned... =)
